- What are the accomplishments of your students?
- How long have you been a coach and what other jobs have you held?
- What disciplines do you teach regularly?
- Do you teach beginner or competitive level skaters or both?
- Are you a member of any professional organizations such as United States Figure Skating Association, the Professional Skaters Association or the Ice Skating Institute?
- Do you hold any ratings from the Professional Skaters Association?
- What is your hourly rate? Do you charge any other fees?
- What is your policy for student “No Shows?”
- What are your goals when you teach?
- Do you carry insurance?
As independent contractors, coaches charge different rates. In general, the coaches that teach on LSA sessions charge between $24 per hour for a junior instructor to $59 per hour for a professional instructor.
LSA strongly encourages all coaches to increase their knowledge of the sport through membership in the Professional Skaters Association and to seek accreditation through the PSA’s ratings process.

Rebecca Hatch-Purnell, LSA Director of Skating has achieved USFS Gold in Moves in the Field and has passed the 5th Figure test, Novice Freestyle and Silver Dance level. She has achieved the Professional Skaters Association ratings of Master Group Instructor, Master Moves in the Field Instructor, Registered Freestyle Instructor

Sarah Neal, LSA Show Artistic Director has achieved USFS Gold in Dance and Moves in the Field, Novice Freestyle and Novice Free Dance. Sarah directed a skating program in Madrid, Spain. She has achieved the Professional Skaters Association ratings of Master Moves in the Field Instructor, Certified Dance Instructor, Registered Freestyle Instructor and Registered Group Instructor. Susan Caudill has achieved USFS Gold in Dance and holds the PSA ratings of Master in Moves in the Field, Dance and Group Instruction. In addition, Susan holds the rating of Certified Figures and Freestyle. Susan and her partner were Midwestern Bronze and Silver Dance Champions and placed 4th at Nationals in Silver Dance. LSA Junior Instructors
The LSA Junior Instructor track is available to those competitive skaters who have turned 16 years old, have achieved designated skating levels and are selected by the Director and the Board. Junior Instructors must complete a mentoring period, study certain materials and pass an oral exam. Junior Instructors charge $24/hour for private lessons.

Off-Ice Instructors
David Boyce, PT, EdD, OCS, ECS, is an Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy at Bellarmine University and owner of Physical Therapy Plus. David has advanced training in Orthopedic Manipulative Therapy and is author of the book "Orthopedic Physical Therapy Secrets". He is dual board certified in Orthopedic and Electrophysiologic Physical Therapy. David is also the only USA certified cycling coach in the Louisville area. He specializes in the treatment of shoulder, cervical spine, knee, and foot injuries, especially as they relate to swimming, cycling, and running.
Liliya Khasin, Stretch and Flexibility, is a rhythmic gymnastics instructor and has been coaching for more than 30 years. She coached elite gymnasts in her native country and has developed 8 Junior Olympic Team Representatives from Louisville since she moved here in 1990.
