Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some frequently asked questions about the Learn to Skate program

  1. Go to Membership Welcome Page (entryeeze.com) to apply and purchase your annual Learn to Skate membership.
  2. Login to your new Entryeeze account, and go to the menu to click on "Contract Ice".
  3. Next, click on "Browse and Purchase".
  4. Then you will see the current Learn to Skate session pop up; from there you will see the class package options available to choose from!"

Skaters should wear comfortable, layered clothing. Water resistant outer layers are helpful. Gloves or mittens are recommended. Socks should be snug and not bunched. Wear only one pair! We recommend ALL beginning skaters wear helmets.

There is no experience requirement to begin Learn to Skate. All beginning skaters will be taught by our Learn to Skate coaching staff the proper techniques to safely begin their fun skating journey!

In fact, many of our skaters have never even seen a pair of ice skates before their initial class. If you have never taken lessons, you will start in Snowplow Sam (tots), Basic 1 or Adult Basic 1 and will work on falling down and getting up first!

At the registration table you will receive your color coded name tag. Your coach will be wearing the scarf color of your name tag. A class map is located at the registration table and announcement board. All beginning classes (Snowplow Sam, Basic 1, Adaptive 1, and Adult 1) will begin the first day of class with their coaches in the lobby, off-ice.

Rental skates are included free with your Learn to Skate class package. When choosing a size, start with your shoe size, checking that they fit snuggly.

Louisville Skating Academy (LSA) recommends that you purchase through a knowledgeable dealer. For new skates inquiries and information regarding LSA's used skates inventory and bi-annual used equipment sale, contact the LSA Learn to Skate USA Director .

Learn to Skate USA curriculums cover a wide range of programs, including hockey! The skills covered in the Learn to Skate program are the foundations of all skating disciplines including figure skating, hockey, speed skating, and recreational skating. Learn to Skate USA is endorsed by USA Hockey.

Practice is a fun, important way to develop and improve the skating skills learned in Learn to Skate classes! Learn to Skate free skate is part of your Learn to Skate class package, allowing skaters practice following class plus the opportunity to hire a coach for private lessons. LSA also has open free skate sessions that Learn to Skate members can purchase to walk-on for extra practice time.
