Skaters should wear comfortable, layered clothing. Water resistant outer layers are helpful. Gloves or mittens are recommended. Socks should be snug and not bunched. Wear only one pair! We recommend ALL beginning skaters wear helmets.

There is no experience requirement to begin Learn to Skate. All beginning skaters will be taught by our Learn to Skate USA coaching staff the proper techniques to safely begin their fun skating journey!

In fact, many of our skaters have never even seen a pair of ice skates before their initial class. If you have never taken lessons, you will start in Snowplow Sam (tots), Basic 1 or Adult Basic 1 and will work on falling down and getting up first!

At the registration table you will receive your color coded name tag. Your coach will be wearing the scarf color of your name tag. A group chart is located at the registration table and announcement board. All beginner levels (Snowplow Sam, Basic 1, Adaptive 1, and Adult 1) will start the first day of the session with the assigned coaches in the lobby, off-ice.

Rental skates are included free with your Learn to Skate USA package. When choosing a size, start with your shoe size, checking that they fit snuggly.
