Member Benefits
What Membership Gives You
Figure skating as a sport in the U.S. is organized around “home clubs” at the local level that are recognized by and affiliated with the national organization, U.S. Figure Skating. In order to compete or test in U.S. Figure Skating events, every skater must have a USFS ID number and normally be registered with a “home club” where they practice and work with a coach.
Founded in 2000, the Louisville Skating Academy, Inc. (LSA) has consistently provided a well-run organization that more than meets the requirements of a USFS home club for its members. Member registration with LSA automatically includes a USFS membership and ID number, which LSA processes for its members.
Access to Competitions & Tests
LSA membership automatically includes a USFS membership and ID number, required to compete or test in any U.S. Figure Skating sanctioned event.
Reserved Figure Skating Ice Time
LSA acts as a co-op, purchasing yearlong contracts from Iceland Sports Complex and letting members contract ice at a discounted rate — approximately 20% less than non-member walk-on pricing. Private figure skating lessons are only available during reserved figure skating sessions.
Access to Great Coaches
LSA recruits and supports highly skilled coaches as independent contractors to ensure members always have great coaches in different specialties. Only an LSA-approved coach can use LSA ice time to offer private lessons, and only with LSA members or guests.
Supportive Fellow Skaters & Parents
LSA members include adult skaters and people who love and support the sport in official roles, but the majority of members are youth skaters and their parents. The club forms a welcoming and friendly community of people with common interests, questions, and learning curves, so there are always other members who can help guide someone new to the sport. Figure skating provides a wonderful opportunity for individual achievement and success. LSA’s supportive community means that “individual” never feels like “alone.”
Non-Profit Means More for Members
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, all income LSA generates — through the Nutcracker on Ice show, the Learn to Skate program, sponsorships, and other sources — is used to benefit its members and promote figure skating. LSA uses these funds to offset roughly 20% of ice time costs for members.

Getting Started
How Do I Join?
All member registration and renewal is handled online through LSA’s Entryeeze portal. LSA’s normal membership year runs from July 1 to June 30. Introductory members joining in March or April get an additional 2.5 months of membership for free, so they can access summer programs and ice time. Skaters signing up for Learn to Skate memberships may join at any time of the year, in order to enroll in Learn to Skate sessions. Once they join, their LTS membership is good for the rest of the LSA membership year.
For all other types of membership, each member pays annual dues at registration, before the membership will take effect. Payments for reserving ice time (“contract ice”) are paid at the time of the contracts, typically broken into sessions of 8 weeks at a time throughout the year, and not at registration.
